The Eye of the Storm

 At times I have advocated for moderate views. That's not entirely true in my belief system, its not moderation, in fact I am very extreme in the advocacy of neutrality. This is the basic understanding of Judo in martial arts. Power is thru leverage. To obtain proper leverage you must find the center as a pivot point. This has always been the source of my strength. On the job, people watch me toss packages well over a hundred pounds with ease. Its thru the proper use of leverage. However this transcends my physical prowess, this is the central tenant of my philosophy.

 There are four primal forces, from the north south axis we have good and evil. Law rises from the east, chaos sets in the west. Balance is the music of the stars, it is the force that binds everything together.

 Let us speak of good and evil. Neither one without the other. They are the force of life and death. A child is born, it is good, and old man dies, it is evil. Yet because there is evil, there is good. If only a child were born, we would quickly overpopulate the earth, and then all would suffer. If only an old man died, there would be no life. It is the way of things. We strive to preserve life, this means we must kill. One who is incapable of evil, upsets the balance, and that is life, and it is death. Never one without the other.

 This brings us to the horizontal axis, law and chaos. Every individual is endowed freewill. Through this is the path of life and death. The choice of good and evil. The wise man must know when it is time for life, and when it is time for death. As Josey Wales tells his foes, I carry with me words of death, so that you may know my words of life are true.

 The will to live, it is as Nietzsche argued, the will to power. For one to live, another must die. Life feeds on life. So it is only natural that evil would overpower good. Freewill unfettered, it is chaos, and can only lead to utter destruction. This is why we uphold the law. It is the collective will of society, so that all might live to the greatest potential. Yet it is the nature of law to stifle freedom, to breed mediocrity, to replace faith with ritual. This in turn stifles the spirit, and leads to decay, an empty existence devoid of passion and joy.

 So the primal forces circle round one another, in mortal combat. Death destroying life, laws strangling desire, passion breaking free the bonds that enslave us, enraptured, life calls forth, destroying all in its wake, good turning to evil, chaos into law. It is the circle of eight.

 So it is the art of the sorcerer, in the eye of the storm, to watch, to channel the forces, so they stay in balance. A push here, a pull there, the art of the clockmaker, in a spinning matrix of chaos.
